Cedar Park Middle School is one of the middle schools in Beaverton school district in Washington county. This school had 990 students enrolled for 2013-14 year where 15.8% are Hispanic and for 6.3% students English is a second language.
My duties as counseling intern included:
- Meeting with individual students and collaborating on personal, academic and career goals
- Working with individual or group of students to address the issues of bullying, peer-conflict, and relational conflict
- Review files and assessments for referring to SST or Special Education
- Developing and delivering small groups for students. Topics such as race, gender and identity, academic success, friendship, social skills
- Collaborate with students, teachers and other schools in order to develop after-school Student Support Group to address issues around sexuality, identity, harassment, bullying and interpersonal conflicts.
- Attending weekly meetings with team teachers to discuss students academic work and behavioral issues(close to RTI meetings), attending 504 and IEP meetings with parents
- Performing classroom observation for specific students
- Collaborating and contributing to school-wide bullying prevention activities
- 5th grade and 8th grade transitions
- Career awareness and exploration workshops
Ceder Mill Elementary School

Cedar Mill Elementary School is one of the smallest elementary schools in Beaverton School district.
As a counseling intern, I served for more than 200 hours during 2013-14 my duties included:
- Weekly Classroom Guidance lessons emphasizing positive school culture. Second-step curriculum on Bullying with grade 2. Topics for grade 4th-5th includes collaboration and cooperation, team work, self-awareness, mindfulness, transition and career awareness.
- Meeting with individual students
- Developing and delivering Friendship and open lunch groups for students.
- Attending RTI meetings
- Performing classroom observation for specific students
- 5th grade transitions
- Collaborating with school principal to plan and deliver collaboration workshop based on topic of the month
- Addressing classroom behaviors and peer conflicts
- Address parental concerns for school related behaviors
